“This is the first proper album of Eks, beatmaker from Naples, south Italy. More a cohesive work than a collection of beats, “EksM” ranges from obscure beat making, oriental meditative confusion and tons of vinyl hiss. The approach to sampling is here more indebted with tape manipulation than with the “regular” Hip Hop method, but the roots are equally strong in both the practice. Instead of focusing on one or two sonic goals, the songs – after all they’re properly – disperse itself in a large amount of moods, but their unity is the whole sound chamber, hazy and in the red. The instrument used on this records are: Roland Sp404, Vestax Handy-Trax, an handmade 8bit synthesizer, Monacor Echo Delay EEM 2000, Tascam Portastudio 414 and Ableton Live 8. All the tracks were written between August and December 2014. The track “Violator Kush” features Krokodil White People, the tracks “127” and “Pile Di Fumo” features Mario [Aspect(t)/Aspirale] and Kaspar NonNewton.”
