Registration of an electronic opera, created and performed between 1995 and 2000

“I met Chicago-native Jeff Kowalkowski in the summer of 1993 at the composition workshop June in Buffalo. An e-mail penship ensued and we conceived the idea of realizing a larger scale project together. Back then I was living in Hamburg and as Hamburg and Chicago are sister cities, we were lucky to receive a small grand to get this project off the ground. What followed was a longer term project that we kept developing while visiting each other in Europe and the US and touring with the latest version of the piece.

We performed the piece with the two of us, using our voices and a diverse mix of electronics. We always referred to it as an opera, although it does not contain any of the traditional attributes of this genre.

The premiere of the first version took place in in the Lunar Cabaret in Chicago in August 1996. Over the years we performed the piece altogether more than 20 times. With the last US tour in 1999 a final version was reached which we then produced for CD in 2001.
This CD was released by the NY-based label NoHarmDone in 2001.” MC
