C4I is the collaborative effort of three British composers: Ashley Davies (Project Dark, Headbutt, Chemical Plant, Ohms And Watts, Detonator etc.), John Everall (Tactile, Creature Box, Multicide, Spacemarker, Ohms And Watts etc) and Joe Banks (Disinformation). C4I is founded in the intersection between the histories of electronic warfare and electronic music. C4I began in June 1998 making its live debut at the Stockholm 98(European City Of Culture) event, following it with performances in Cambridge and Nottingham. The first album was a white vinyl LP for Germany’s Very Good Records in an edition of 200 called “White”, containing music culled from the above mentioned performances. The second album is a CD for Staalplaat entitled “Copenacre”, containing new studio recordings inspired by the Copenacre Quarry military equipment testing and storage facility. The sounds used by C4I are primarily created by electronic laboratory and military equipment, ambient / site recordings, sound processing and editing. It combines the best of the three people’s previous or on going projects: raw, noisy and ambient at times, focusing on detailed sound. The microscopic look at an unknown world.
