Handy’s Smacker sets out to elaborately poke, fondle and play with a subculture that has been lingering over London’s gay scene for several years. The EP confronts the horror of London “chill-outs”, and the sequence of actions that can potentially span a number of days. Smacker persuades his listeners through a diatribe of off-kilter, pocket-sized dance musings, that assemble to engineer a somewhat savage sense of fun.
The playful and unassuming nature of the music releases the EP’s narrative of any ill-throught stigma, and positions Handy to engage with an audience, not so typical of Diagonal’s listeners.”
