“Fan Club Orchestra Japan started by an early participant in the Belgium chapter of Fan Club Orchestra session. He brought the communal noisemaking format of Fan Club Orchestra back to his homeland, and they released a record of its own – 20001: A Space Odyssey (A Suite For Gameboy, Synth And Theremin) on Entenpfuhl.
The themes and classical music Kubrick used in his movie are interpreted in a cheap but none the less futuristique way.
The Fan Club Orchestra Japan is led by Japanese-Belgium musician Ali Morimoto. Back in Kobe, Japan, he founded the FCOJ who in the beginning worked with pure gameboy sound, using the legendary music program of the Game Boy camera.”
