“Aphasia is Richard Johnson, turning 24 this year. Since 4 years he is working in sound collage, and has had six cassette only releases, and 2 split CD’s (one with Brume and one with Dachise) and made music to film. Originally being a solo project (and still the only one to control the end-mix), he is now getting involved using sounds from others. This first full length CD contains sound contributions from people as Christian Renou (Brume), Cedric Peyronnet (Toy Bizarre) and Paul Knowles (Dachise).
Aphasia’s compositions usually involve a blend of location recordings, electro-acoustic objects, analogue electronics, instruments, noise/silence, old tape-reels etc. and more recently jungle/drum & bass. Style and structure constantly changes but his work can usually be grouped to post-industrial sound collage, concrete soundscapes, environmental, ambient, noise, improvisation and decomposition.”
