Olli Hietala’s new book is The Diary of a Novice Vegetarian. The events begin with a challenge that first makes the perpetrator a vegetarian for six months and later, as the experiment progresses, vegan. Hietala is a storyteller whose free, airy and expressive drawing brings his comics to life. The lust for meat tells about the difficulties caused by the challenge through small coincidences, reflections, objects and recipes. The challenge of lust for flesh is not only a personal test, but also a social pinch that makes even those close to the perpetrator think about their own actions and ethics.
