Comics artist Aino Sutinen spent a couple of months backpacking in the South Caucasus – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Sutinen has travelled before: previous trips to the Middle East are documented in the book Taksi Kurdistan. So, Wife to the Mountains tells about the South Caucasus, local inhabitants and nature. Sutinen portrays the local people with warmth and friendship. During her travels, she discusses, among other things, the position of women, which is very traditional in the South Caucasus. Mostly I would have liked more pages in the book – I would have read more about the trips, seen more details about local life. Now the interesting and well-drawn travelogue was over pretty quickly.
