Paperback, 18x11cm 176pp. 2nd edition.
In 2011, Mårten Spångberg published the infamous critique on contemporary dance and its environments, Spangbergianism. 4000 copies were spread around the world, shaking dance, dancers, choreographers, producers, festival directors and audiences out of a long sleep of politeness, pleasantry and endless benevolence, but the book was not there to be anything else than a scream, a tormented dream and rush hour of brutal and at the same time ironic superlatives, exaggerations and cries for help. Spangbergianism was at the same time a
book that insisted on changing dance writing, referring to Rihanna before Isadora, Jay-Z before any choreographer at all, pushing for a style that kicked in the doors of contemporary, remixing theory and fiction, precise statements with a totally over-the top jargon. Nasty and fun, horrible and a bit too close to the truth.
And it’s back.
A second edition fresh from the printing house, with all its juicy details, apologising to nobody and yet committed unconditionally to dance.
