“After Uwe Bastiansen performed a brilliant live show for the German premiere of the motion picture “Le Piano Fatigué” with his illustrious international “Flexible Orchestra” – Geoff Leigh, Zappi Diermaier, Jean-Hervé Péron, Cathy Heyden, Diego Pandiscia, Diego Vinciarelli – it was spontaneously decided to go to the Hamburg sound studio Clouds Hill for one single day to record live. The outcome – after 3 laborious months of rearrangement – is this exceptional album. Loops and power drills collide with flute, saxophone and trumpets. Collide with guitars, drums, tapes, sounds, percussion and bass.
Supported by Sebastian Nagel, Johann Scheerer, Hamburg artist Irina Frederich (artwork) and Tim Hodgkinson, Uwe Bastiansen found a very unusual form for his imagination following his performance tour through China. Best example is the 18-minute excursion “deutschland 84.9.”. He transforms monotony into a magical mood by peculiar sounds and arrangements.”
