Mik.Musik.!. label In the end of 2001 released the debut album of DEUCE, a solo project of Piotrek Połoz (Youngster From Lodz-City, Psychocukier, DJ Diabuo, boleslas deus). Originally released as a cd-r, “Not in the kitchen” got an applause of the audience and enthusiasm of polish and foreign reviewers. (“…fame is lurking around the corner…” / FdW in VW)…
Since then DEUCE was working hard to perfect his own, easy-recognizable style. He was improving his composing skills and his own sound, collecting ideas for the lyrics and building up his stage-image. He had played no concert by the time of his debut’s appearance. Now he plays on regular basis, mainly abroad (Germany, Netherlands, Austria),
where he has a lot of fans, but his polish performances are becoming more and more attractive for people also, as the one of the biggest attraction of the wide mik.musik.!. catalogue.
A mixture of sentimental, cute melodies with cybernoise, punk energy with hip-hop like rhythms, lo-fi with hi-fi, distorted quasi-rapped songs with white-noise and the cavalcades of crazy breakbeats, became a trade
mark of DEUCE.
On his newest album, which is published under perfidious and ambiguous title “My możemy zrobić to szybciej i lepiej niż DEUCE!/We can make it faster and better than DEUCE!” listener can find all of these elements multiplied and in a great density, DEUCE juggles with them with a great
skill, he does a noise-acrobatics, linking beautiful, harmonic melodiousness with digital noise in the way completely absent in Poland so far.
