“Andreas Bertilsson has released three albums under his former alias, Son of Clay, through which he has developed the musical form that fully emerges in this piece. Paramount is to be understood as a tripartite piece where the music moves across three stages and suggests a more comprehensive underlying story. The sound timbres fluctuates from digital adaptations, by way of field recordings to the sounds of voices, improvised percussions, arranged situations and acoustic bass. It ends up in a massive wall of sound that marks the ending of the piece. Bertilsson’s full expression is not only characterized by its richness of detail but above all by his striking adaptation of the sound recordings, where the combinations of sounds go beyond the familiar. It appears odd and strange in a way that sharpens the ears and the mind of the listener. Combined with a timing and a musical gesture which appears unintelligible and beautiful at the same time, as a listener i’m left in amazement towards a music that takes on a form of its very own, separated from reality.”
