Music made to accompany Murnau’s cult classic silent film Nosferatu.

A seductive digital dub experience from the leading New York ’90s electronica unit, Liminal was integral in coining the short-lived genre illbient. Conceived as a live cinema and sound experience, the trio devised this album as a postmodern soundtrack for the 1922 silent film by F.W. Murnau. With Danny Blume on guitar and tape loops, DJ Olive performing all manner of abstractions on turntables, and DJ Loop on sampler, the pervasive soundscape collage alternates between groove-based dub fragments and spatial ambience. Fragments of spoken texts, pop music, B-movie samples, and syncopated rhythms all fold in and out of the mix in a manner best described as “cinema for the ear.”
