Vogel’s first album for Tresor is an eight-tracker of fast-moving techno that would qualify as straight-ahead if it wasn’t for the roster of experimental effects driving each song. The track titles are negligible — “In,” “Absolute,” and “Time” on the first side, “What” “Goes,” “Round,” “Comes,” “Around,” on the flip — and to an extent, the music is too. While it’s just as professionally done and immediately entertaining as his album debut (released on Mille Plateaux), Absolute Time has a tossed-off air that doesn’t quite compare to his later work.
